12:25 am - YAY!!!!!!!!! Rachel got me a Nintendo Wii for my birthday! Best girlfriend ever? I think so!
It is fun as hell, I can't wait to build a nice library of party games to entertain the drunk peoples. Wii Golf is my current fave, I haven't really dived into Zelda yet though.

01:50 am - a co-worker of mine passed away last night His name was John Ross.
He drove home after work yesterday and had a seizure in the parking lot of his apartment. I'm not exactly sure what the cause of death was yet.
This really sucks. He left work yesterday complaining about a headache. My boss was real torn up about it today, probably thinking there was something he could have done to prevent it.
This guy was the other unofficial sound guy on the crew, along with myself. He was in his mid 40s, and was the stereotypical 70s burnout blue-collar worker. Dense as rocks when it came to learning new things, or being able to troubleshoot a problem, but he was by far the hardest and most dedicated worker on the crew. I was looking forward to him picking up one of my recording shifts next week. It's going to be so hard to run that place without him.
We would always get pissed at him when a problem presented itself, and, as crew head, he rarely had a good solution.
"Well, we could mount it on a rope, or we could use the lift, or we could actually come up with a some kind of way to tie it to baton and lift it, its just sixes..."
Then we would end up doing something insanely complicated, stand around for 10 minutes discussing it, and when my boss would finally come in and go "Guys, I told you to just leave it on the table", we could always count on John to reply with:
"Yeah, that's what I was gonna say."
It was infuriating.
I'm doing pretty good myself. I guess it just hasn't really settled in yet. He just bought a laptop and(I just remembered he had one of my Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy discs...) was finally learning how to record him jamming, and as the only other football fan on the crew I was looking forward to some more Super Bowl shit talk.
This sucks.
Amazing how something can end just like that.

11:40 pm

This is the town I went to today. Pedraza. Tiny walled village built sometime in the 14th century. We ate at a small family owned restaurant that only served lamb...cooked in a wood burning oven for 3 hours, the meat was like butter. More images in my flickr account:

And quail eggs for dinner.
